Swimming and Conditioning

Canine hydrotherapy is a viable treatment for dogs recovering from surgery or injury. Many dogs also simply enjoy swimming. The pool is maintained just as is a human pool, making certain that the water is disinfected and clean.

Swimming is a helpful aid in:
Arthritis
Hip & Elbow Dysplasia
Orthopaedic Injury or Surgery
Weight Reduction for Obese Dogs
Enhancing or Developing Fitness and Stamina
Dogs Who are Paralyzed
Swelling and Stiffness

Chabibi’s Korona Kazan!!

Kazan won a “triple crown” in 2006 by winning all three US national events in straight racing (LGRA), oval racing (NOTRA), and lure coursing (ASFA)!!

Background:

Kazan was injured in 2006 and had to have a shattered toe removed. Later, while chasing a rabbit at home, he tore the ligament on his new outside toe and had surgery to repair it.

Testimonial:

"After 6 weeks in a cast or hard wraps Kazan atrophied pretty severely on his right side. When the wraps were removed he not only lost much of his muscling but also was lame in the operated on foot. The doc said that arthritis had set in and that Kazan would probably always be a bit lame. After consulting with specialist and physical therapists, it was suggested we try pool therapy. Not an underwater treadmill, but swimming, to enable rebuilding of the muscle and muscle mass without putting stress on the damaged foot. Within 4 weeks of twice per week in the pool at Colorado K-9 Acres, Kazan recovered approximately 60% of his muscle and is no longer lame. It is now believed that Kazan will soon be able to run as he always has enjoyed and we can thank Sharyn Baker, owner of Colorado K-9 Acres, for having such an affordable and necessary facility."

Prince Boobie, swimming to strengthen leg and thigh muscles which have weakened because of spinal cord compression. He is a strong swimmer and uses his tail like a beaver! Before he began swimming he was falling about every 5th step. After three months of swimming, he rarely falls or stumbles.
