Reservations

PLEASE EMAIL OR CALL TO MAKE RESERVATIONS

Boarding or daycare is available at Colorado K-9 Acres. Since we have a number of our own dogs and private clients dogs here for long-term training, it is highly recommended that you make reservations for boarding or daycare well in advance of your desired dates to ensure a place. Reservations are appreciated at least 24 hours in advance.

PAYMENT IN FULL MUST BE MADE AT TIME OF DROP-OFF AND IN ADVANCE OF HOLIDAY TIMES TO HOLD RESERVATION

Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. It is highly recommended that reservations be made well in advance of holiday times, spring break and summer vacations to ensure a place for your furry friend. For all holidays, we require payment in advance to hold the reservation. For holiday reservations a cancellation notice 14 days in advance is required or there is a 50% payment penalty. This helps ensure that reservations are not made and then cancelled at the last minute and that we can accommodate our guests needing spaces. During non-holiday times, if you cancel your reservation within 2 days of the reservation, any deposit is fully refundable.

New Canine Flu Alert

A new canine upper respiratory flu has emerged and is making its' way around the country. We ask that you do NOT board a dog who has been around many dogs (such as at a dog show, groomers, dog parks, PetSmart etc. within two weeks of boarding). This disease appears to be highly contagious, and mimics bordetella. Some dogs develop high fevers and pneumonia and a few, even young dogs, have died. There is no vaccine yet available. For more information click HERE.

Boarding Fees - includes 4-5 times per day outdoor exercise, food and personal attention.

1Dog: $25 per day

2 Dogs: $46 per day

3 Dogs: $60 per day

(For additional dogs or boarding stays longer than 1 month, check with us for fees)

Cats: $13/day

Hours of Operation

We are open daily by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Drop-off and pick-up times are between the hours of 8 a.m and 5 p.m. Special arrangements will be made on a case-by-case basis, but additional fees may apply.

Required Vaccinations and Anti-Parasite Policy

We pride ourselves on providing a safe and healthy environment for your pal. To this end we require that any canine guest be up to date on all vaccinations, including a Bordetella vaccination given within the last 6 months. We require a copy of vaccination and parasite treatment records to maintain here at the facility. For more information on Bordetella, check out this link. Use your browsers BACK button to return to this page.

As well, boarders must be free of parasites and bacterial infection. This requirement can be met by submitting a stool sample to your veterinarian within two weeks of their stay here, or providing proof that your dog is on a broad-spectrum anti-wormer, such as Heartgard. Alternatively, you may ask your vet to prescribe a de-worming compound. Vet records demonstrating compliance with this policy must be provided. NO dog will be accepted without verification of these requirements. This helps keep our own dogs and those of our friends and clients healthy. If a dog has questionable stools here, indicative of infection or parasites, a stool sample will be submitted to the facility veterinarian for a check-up and clients will be responsible to reimburse us for the cost of the sample analysis and veterinary treatments that might be prescribed.

Medical Treatment Waiver

Clients are required to sign a waiver giving Colorado K-9 Acres permission to seek veterinary care should it be deemed necessary by kennel staff. All fees assessed for veterinary care are the responsibility of the dog/s owner.

Medication and Special Needs

Medication, including injections, can be administered as long as the medication and clear veterinary instructions and all necessary supplies are provided. Medication should be supplied in the original container with instructions on it. In special cases there may be a small supplemental fee for medication delivery. If you have a special concern about your canine pal, please let us know and we will do everything we can to make your pals' stay comfortable and non-stressful.

Stress

Because of the design of the facility and the amount of outdoor time dogs are given, we have rarely noted stress with dogs who stay here. There is rarely any barking here and when there is, it is rarely prolonged. This all assists in sending your pal home healthy and happy.

Food

Colorado K-9 Acres feeds only the best premium food, Royal Canin. Royal Canin has long provided the European community, and now provides us with THE best kibble food in the world. If you wish your fur friend to be fed something different, we are happy to feed it if you supply it. We have refrigerators and freezer space to accommodate special needs diets or raw diets. We feed dogs once or twice daily and by special arrangement, more often if necessary. There may be a small extra fee for such service. We have a variety of foods available, even for those guests who are a little pudgy!

Animal Comfort

Clients are welcome to bring toys and blankets or bedding from home for an animal IF it is freshly washed. If your pet chews or is otherwise destructive with such items, they will be removed for the safety of the animal. We will not give any kind of rawhide that is supplied except for compressed rawhide as other types are too easily chewed off in large sizes and dogs can choke.

Dogs who have anxiety at separation from their owner can be treated to a special treat filled Kong toy daily to help keep him/her occupied. There is a small daily fee for this option. Please tell us if your dog has shown anxiety in the past when separated from you.

Kennel space is heated by radiant heat and your friend will be nice and warm in winter. During summer, the kennel is also kept comfortably cool.

Outdoor Exercise

During nice weather, dogs are often outside in the 12 foot long runs or in the exercise areas for a good part of each day. During the worst weather dogs are rotated outside at least every 2-3 hours from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.

We do not mix dogs from clients without specific permission and such interactions are always carefully supervised. If your dog enjoys the company of other dogs, we can mix him/her with age and size appropriate companions. Talk with us about your preferences.

Daycare

Daycare is available for a daily fee of $13 per dog between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm. Minor time alterations to this schedule may be made on a case by case basis.
