ABOUT ME

My name is Sharyn Baker. I own an excellent and beautiful group of German Shepherd dogs from both working and show lines. Some of my dogs were born in the U.S., and others come from Europe, including Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

I train most of my dogs for Schutzhund sport and sponsor the Colorado Alpine Schutzhund Club. Most of my dogs are shown in the German style conformation ring and all have received high ratings.

My dogs receive extensive training and exercise. Each dog is also given lots of loving attention and opportunities for socialization with other animals (dogs, cats) and, of course, people. The dogs each have a separate kennel, but most often they are out running and playing with me on the 40 acres. My dogs, including the rescue dogs awaiting placement, are a part of my family.

I am the founder, President and sole operator of Colorado German Shepherd Rescue. This endeavor has been financed for the most part out of my own pocket. I take German Shepherds under the age of 4 whom someone has dumped, is relinquishing or who has been found stray, tend to their medical needs, provide necessary training and socialization, and try to find QUALIFIED adoptive homes. You can learn more about my rescue service by selecting the link to GSD Rescue on the home page menu.

My formal education is both broad and extensive. I have several advanced degrees, including a Masters Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO, and a Masters in Music from the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. I completed almost all course work towards my doctorate in Choral Literature and Conducting at the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. I continue to take college courses each semester to keep my mind active. I am also an ex-paramedic/firefighter and hazardous materials expert. I have taught a variety of subjects in high school and college, including at the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. I am still active as a consultant in the emergency response, health, safety and environmental field.

One of my real passions is the German Shepherd Dog. I am blessed to have the opportunity to own and enjoy many fine German Shepherds .

Here Orsa and I are waiting to train in Schutzhund protection work.
