About Colorado K-9 Acres

Colorado K-9 Acres is located in Falcon, Colorado, on the northeast edge of Colorado Springs. We are licensed by the State of Colorado Department of Agriculture as a Boarding Kennel, Canine Rescue organization and Small Breeder. We are members of the American Boarding Kennel Association.

There are 40 acres here, including a 5600 square foot state-of-the-art, climate controlled kennel facility, a residence, a full sized training field, plenty of space for tracking on natural, mowed turf, and an outside, mile-long conditioning track. The kennel facility has an indoor heated swimming pool for the dogs (with variable current generators to help condition or rehab them), a dog wash, an office/retail area, 1400 square feet of indoor training space, a full bath, full kitchen, and a laundry/mechanical room. The kennel can house 50 dogs.

This is the heated and lighted indoor pool. The pool is a great way for our canine guests to have fun, condition or rehab from an injury. 5 current generators provide current to swim against, from a gentle stream to a strong river current. A dog wash is also in this room.

The indoor kennels are in two separately ventilated, heated and air-conditioned rooms, each with negative pressure. Indoor kennels are various sizes to accommodate a variety of sizes of our canine guests. Large kennels are 5' X 6' and smaller kennels are 4' X 5'. Two extra large runs will accommodate multiple dog families. There are a maximum of 8 kennels in any bay in the large room and 6 dogs in any bay in the other room. This helps provide less stressful environments for the dogs. Our indoor kennels are largest in the state and big enough that two dogs have plenty of room. Privacy panels from side to side prevent nose to nose contact, but dogs can see others across the corridor.Each kennel corridor has a window for natural ventilation and light, bright overhead lighting and radiant heat or a door. Classical music is played for our guests to also help keep the stress level down. There is rarely any barking here unless strangers are on the property. The best pressure washer on the market today helps keep these kennels disinfected and clean. Kennels are cleaned with a quaterninary ammonium chloride compound. The concrete floors are sealed.

 

Large 12'X4' partially sheltered outdoor runs are double fenced for extra security and the concrete is sealed for easy cleaning.

 

Several large exercise areas are available for play and exploration. Each is fenced with the best commercial fencing on the market. Special order 1.25 inch mesh, schedule 40 steel pipe is complemented with a foot deep, 6 inch wide concrete footer under all perimeter fencing to prevent digging. Dogs can also be taken for walks on the 40 acres, or run on the compacted outside track for conditioning.
